What the IMT FAQ requires
The IMT answer about upload errors for a vehicle registration certificate (Certificado de Matrícula) or Certificate of Conformity (CoC) specifies PDF format and a maximum size of 1 MB. When a registration certificate consists of more than one document, submit its parts together in one file.
This guide addresses those certificate attachments only. It does not establish requirements for every IMT service. The cited answer gives no page limit, minimum resolution or precise byte definition of MB; follow the fields and instructions in your actual application.
1. Assemble the complete certificate
Keep your originals. Check both sides and every required part of the registration certificate. Do not combine a separate CoC with it merely because both are PDFs: follow the separate fields in the submission form.
For ordinary PDF scans, open Merge PDF, add the parts, arrange them in reading order and download the combined file. For JPG or PNG scans, use Images to PDF and check the page order and orientation. These tools run in your browser. Converting images can make the file larger.
2. Reduce an oversized ordinary PDF
If the complete PDF is too large, open Compress PDF and choose a custom target such as 0.95 MB. This is a suggested margin, not an IMT rule. PDFMinto uses 1,000,000 bytes per MB, so this target is 950,000 bytes.
Compression sends the selected file to the server; temporary processing files are deleted when the task ends. Input is limited to 30 MB and 200 pages. Keep all required pages. A target is not a guarantee; an already optimized document may not shrink enough.
3. Check the downloaded file before uploading
Check the actual byte size of the downloaded file, rather than relying on a rounded size or the chosen target. Reopen it and compare its page count, order and content with the originals.
Zoom in on the vehicle identification number, registration details, dates, stamps and small print. Check that edges and reverse sides remain complete. If text has become unclear, retain the clearer original and ask IMT for guidance instead of submitting an unreadable copy.
Submit the verified file through your own IMT application and review the response. If an error persists despite a valid PDF within the limit, record the error and contact IMT; file size is not proof that every submission condition is met.
Limits and frequently asked questions
Can I use a digitally signed certificate? Do not rewrite it with these tools. Signed, encrypted and interactive-form PDFs are unsupported. Local PDF tools also reject annotations, including link annotations, and attachments. Obtain instructions for the original electronic document.
Can I remove pages or turn the certificate into images to force it below 1 MB? Do not remove required content. PDF-to-image export is not a substitute for the PDF attachment required here. If a complete, readable file cannot meet the limit, ask IMT for an accepted alternative.
What are the merge and image limits? Up to 40 inputs, 30 MB total and 200 PDF pages; each image is limited to 24 megapixels. These are product limits, not IMT allowances. A merged result above the compressor’s input limit cannot be passed directly to compression.
Does this certify the document or guarantee acceptance? No. PDFMinto prepares files; it does not authenticate certificates, perform OCR, guarantee a DPI value or submit on your behalf. A readable PDF already within the limit usually needs no compression.
